Factories and machines can be connected via blockchain platforms to enable automated value-added processes. Big data generated by IoT devices can be analyzed by connected partners to gain deeper insights into manufacturing processes and improve quality and risk management. Digital transformation and Industry 4.0 trends are also facilitating blockchain applications in operations management (OM) and manufacturing. This project is based on an expert interview study that aims to reveal and analyze the challenges and opportunities to implement blockchain technology in OM and the manufacturing industry.
